Exhibitor numbers more than doubled in 2009, representing 34 countries and regions The second edition of the HKTDC Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair was a triumph. Exhibitor numbers more than doubled to 525, representing 34 countries and regions. Buyer numbers increased by 36% with almost 12,000 buyers from 62 countries & regions. Hong Kong is rapidly maturing as Asia旧 wine trading and distribution hub, with unrivalled access to the Chinese mainland market and this fair is its keystone event. Success in 2009 confirms this, with the fair attracting market leaders in wine and spirits distribution in the region, as well as winemakers and purveyors of wine, spirits, beer and other beverages. The fair is also an effective showcase for products and services related to production and logistics of alcoholic beverages, accessories and equipment, wine education, wine investment, wine tourism and gourmet food products. The excitement continues in 2010 The fair encompasses both the Old and New Worlds of wine production. France was the first partner country in 2009; Australia will be the partner country in 2010. Multicultural participation and world-class events lift the fair from a regional marketplace to an international wine industry must-attend. ?009 saw the inauguration of the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition with some 1,300 wines from around the world, judged by a truly pan-Asian panel. Organised in conjunction with London旧 renowned International Wine & Spirit Competition, this is the world's first authentically Asian wine competition, and its largest. 冲sia Top Sommelier Summit has chosen the fair as its platform.
